In referencing a blog post from InstantPrint.co.uk and their 11-22-24 blog post, they go through all the various methods posted on the internet and probably Pinterest as well. And their top 13 recommendations are the following,
- Plastic Scraper (can be helpful, but is not a complete solution)
- Hot, soapy water (the heat and soap might help, but very slow and messy option)
- Hairdryer (heat does help, but the leftover residue needs to be cleaned)
- Rubbing Alcohol (can break down adhesives but leaves residue behind)
- Peanut Butter (the oils might help, but it's messy and belongs in a sandwich)
- WD-40 (legendary product &good for many things but it leaves residue & a mess)
- Cooking Oil (same as peanut butter, is better to cook with and leaves a mess)
- White Vinegar (it might do something, but it's not strong enough)
- Mayonnaise (weird and messy)
- Rubber eraser (I tried it, and it balled up the adhesive, and I had to remove them with another product and extras steps)
- Commercial Cleaners (Yes, there are a ton on the market, but are they made with safe-to-use chemicals?) Watch out for the ingredients!
- Masking Tape (now tape isn't a bad idea; this method can work but not with masking tape, and it doesn't remove the entire problem depending on the strength of the adhesive and can leave a residue)
- Steel Wool (maybe this would work, but be careful testing this; steel wool isn't surface safe)
I'm addressing the "Cooking Oil" part of the blog because we often see these types of posts on the internet. You might have had some success with one of these methods, but I know this method isn't fast and causes extra unnecessary steps.
When you use a product like the TakeOFF™ solution, not only are you using something environmentally safe, it is surface safe as well. With a couple pumps of the TakeOFF™ 4oz spray bottle or drips from the 1oz drip bottle, the TakeOFF™ solution immediately activates and starts breaking down the adhesive problem you are working on. Within minutes, the product will have broken down the adhesive, so you can remove the sticker or use a scraper to get under the label or sticker to allow TakeOFF to further dissolve the sticky adhesive glue. If you like to work fast and get the most efficient solution to your problem with no mess and no additional residue to clean up Tak,eOFF™ Products are the perfect solution to going from mess to clean in minutes.
